About the position
As a Body Shop Apprentice Technician at Penske, you will work closely with experienced technicians to learn and perform minor collision repairs on trucks and trailers. This role focuses on developing your skills in truck and trailer component repair, with the goal of advancing to a Body Shop Technician III. You will utilize advanced technology and diagnostic equipment to ensure high-quality repairs, while benefiting from in-house training programs and a supportive team environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist technicians performing minor electrical system repairs.
- Prepare surfaces for refinishes.
- Perform minor cab accessory repairs and replacements.
- Assist with minor cargo box repairs and the removal, replacement, and repair of major components.
- Engage actively in a learning environment to apply skills independently.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Focus on professional growth towards becoming a technician III.
- Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational/technical school preferred.
- Working knowledge of tools of trade including welding equipment, paint equipment, shop machines, and power tools preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to understand and comply with specific instructions and safety regulations.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
- Ability to maintain a current driver qualification file as required by DOT regulations.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in vehicle maintenance or repair is a plus.
- Familiarity with DOT and OSHA regulations.
