About the position

The position involves operating haul trucks to transport materials within a mining environment, ensuring safety and efficiency in operations. The operator will be responsible for understanding work area changes, performing inspections, and executing assignments from a computerized dispatch system. The role may also include training other operators and operating various heavy equipment, while adhering to safety protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate haul trucks to transport materials from loading areas to processing areas.
• Perform inspections to maximize equipment and tire life.
• Execute assignments from computerized dispatch system and/or two-way radio.
• Assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators.
• Operate other heavy equipment such as water trucks, motor graders, and dozers as needed.
• Understand and follow procedures for start-up, shut-down, fueling, and emergency situations.
• Have knowledge of payload measurement systems and dispatch codes.
• Perform safe and skilled tasks including loading, traveling, and dumping materials.
• Assist with operations support activities such as housekeeping and barricading.
• Perform minor maintenance activities as required.

Requirements

• Minimum six (6) months of mobile equipment operating experience.
• Completion of academic and practical competencies required for the position.
• Ability to apply knowledge and skills while passing a written assessment based on skills and safety.

Nice-to-haves

• High School diploma or GED.
• Six (6) or more months of experience operating Haul Trucks.
