About the position

The Truck Driver operates vehicles to transport equipment and parts for the dealership, ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and adherence to safety regulations. This role involves loading and unloading equipment, interacting with customers, and maintaining the vehicle in good condition. Overnight travel may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all company values are adhered to and promoted, including participation in employee recognition programs.
  • Receives scheduling information from the manager, loads trailer with outbound equipment, delivers equipment to destination, unloads equipment, and loads any equipment for the next destination.
  • Contacts customers to confirm location/directions and unloading/loading requirements, ensuring customer satisfaction upon delivery.
  • Complies with all safety procedures and government regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and company policy, performing pre-trip inspections and maintaining log books.
  • Maintains a safe and clean vehicle, performing required maintenance and reporting any issues to the supervisor promptly.
  • Responsible for additional duties as requested by the manager when not driving, including lot maintenance and assisting technicians in the shop.
  • Conducts himself professionally to ensure a quality company image is communicated and projects a clean, professional appearance.
  • Ensures excellent communication with supervisors, dispatchers, and other dealership personnel to ensure efficient operations.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • CDL License required.
  • Excellent driving record, with no preventable accidents in the previous three years.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a semi-truck and trailer operator.
  • Ability to operate trucks as well as agricultural, construction, and consumer equipment.
  • Ability to operate vehicles in normal weather conditions (snow, rain, etc.).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of computer systems/software and smartphones for email and internet-based applications such as mapping/GPS software.
  • Ability to work occasional extended hours during the week and for weekend coverage.
  • Ability to stay overnight on the road if needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with agricultural/construction equipment preferred to answer basic customer questions.
