About the position
The Truck Loader position at Performance Foodservice involves preparing and transporting pallets of outgoing freight for shipping. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and quality standards while ensuring efficient product flow through the production process. The position operates on a night shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday, starting at 5 PM, and includes responsibilities such as loading trailers, inspecting equipment, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare pallets of outgoing freight for shipping.
- Transport pallets from inventory staging areas to trailers using a fork truck, pallet jack, or by hand.
- Assist Order Selectors and perform other similar duties as requested by the supervisor.
- Follow all preferred work methods, safety policies, and procedures according to company guidelines.
- Inspect empty trailers at the loading dock to ensure cleanliness before loading.
- Wrap pallets with cellophane and secure loads as needed.
- Remove empty pallets and packing materials to the proper receptacles.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the warehouse and loading dock area.
- Complete vehicle inspection checklist and secure all equipment at the end of the shift.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience
- 6 - 12 months of warehouse and/or distribution work experience
- Ability to work scheduled times and required overtime
- Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout the shift
- Ability to lift and stack products between 10-35 pounds and up to 80 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work in multi-temperature environments (cooler, freezer, dry)
- Pass pre-employment drug test
Nice-to-haves
- 1-2 years of warehouse and/or distribution work experience
- 6 months of truck loading/unloading experience
- Foodservice distribution or related industry experience
- Pallet jack and/or forklift certified
- OSHA Forklift operator certificate
Benefits
