About the position

The Truck Service Assistant General Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the General Manager in overseeing the marketing and operations of the Truck Service department. This position involves leading a team of technicians in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers, ensuring high standards of customer service and operational efficiency. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for fostering a positive work environment, managing staff performance, and achieving financial objectives for the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the General Manager in leading the Truck Service department's marketing and operations functions.
  • Inspire and lead the team to meet and exceed company performance standards.
  • Develop a trusting atmosphere conducive to receiving feedback from team members and guests.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain high-quality team members according to company guidelines.
  • Coach and performance manage staff according to company policy.
  • Lead technicians through troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct visual inspections to ensure all products and services are available.
  • Help achieve financial objectives through effective management of people, product, service, and facility processes.
  • Adhere to safety standards and company guidelines on vendor relationships.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Truck Service business preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in convenience store, truck service, travel center, or other related business activity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Automotive diagnostics experience.
