About the position

The Truck Service General Manager at TravelCenters of America is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the Truck Service Profit Center. This position involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring excellent customer service, and driving financial performance. The General Manager is expected to inspire their team, maintain operational standards, and foster a positive work environment while ensuring that every traveler receives top-notch service and support.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Truck Service Profit Center and lead a team of technicians.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and a positive atmosphere in the Truck Service department.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and retain motivated employees according to company guidelines.
  • Coach team members in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
  • Conduct visual inspections to ensure availability of products and services.
  • Achieve financial objectives through effective management of people, product, service, and facility processes.
  • Lead payroll, accounting, inventory, and personnel documentation procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Adhere to safety standards and follow company guidelines on vendor relationships.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED) required; Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in convenience store, truck service, travel center, or related business activity.
  • Proficient planning and analytical skills, including understanding P&L calculations and budget reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to present business action plans and operational reports to management.
  • Valid driver's license required.
