About the position

The Truck Stop General Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the facility, ensuring outstanding customer service, and managing a team of employees. This role involves coaching, training, and scheduling staff to maximize operational effectiveness while adhering to company policies and regulations. The manager will also maintain the physical facility, manage vendor relationships, and promote sales initiatives to achieve business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain hands-on oversight of daily operations to ensure effective facility operation and outstanding customer service.
  • Coach, counsel, and train employees to create an effective team.
  • Schedule employees to maximize operational effectiveness and efficiency while ensuring customer service is a top priority.
  • Adhere to and train employees on Federal, State, and local regulations, ensuring compliance in the sale of age-restricted products.
  • Assist in identifying qualified applicants, performing interviews, and making employment decisions including hiring, evaluating, scheduling, training, and disciplining as needed.
  • Maintain the physical facility and equipment, ensuring cleanliness standards are met.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to maintain optimal product and supply levels.
  • Collaborate with executive management to establish and execute regular promotions and specials.
  • Understand effective merchandising and appealing product display techniques, updating layouts and planograms as needed.
  • Promote store sales and selling initiatives, encouraging the team to reach goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate a high value for Health, Environment, Safety, and Security (HES) issues and integrate HES into daily job performance.
  • Follow and comply with all health and sanitation procedures and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Oversee and execute daily reporting, promptly investigating and resolving any issues.
  • Work with executive management to establish sales and expense control objectives.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in high volume Truck stop management or 6+ years in C-store management.
  • 3+ years in managing operations with annual sales volume of $2+ million.
  • 3+ years supervising and training 15-20+ employees.
  • Intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to work various shift times including days, evenings, nights, occasional overnights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to perform repeated bending, kneeling, twisting, and overhead reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
