About the position

The Assistant Operations Manager at Alamo Transit Company (ATC) is responsible for overseeing central dispatch operations and coordinating material hauling orders. This role involves managing the logistics of material deliveries for both internal and external customers, ensuring efficient operations within the trucking industry. The position requires strong communication skills and attention to detail, as well as the ability to support the Operations Manager in various daily responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising dispatch staff
  • Scheduling material deliveries for external and internal customers
  • Validating orders with production needs in internal tracking system
  • Communicating with contractors and third-party carriers
  • Supporting the Operations Manager in daily responsibilities
  • Reporting and communicating safety issues to proper personnel
  • Coordinating and attending regular safety meetings with contractors
  • Ability to inspect contractor equipment
  • Assist Operations Manager with recruitment of new contractors
  • Operate as a liaison to internal and external customers

Requirements

  • 10 years prior experience in logistics/trucking industry preferred
  • Fluent in Spanish strongly preferred
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Must be familiar with dispatching operations
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with a group
