About the position

The Truss Designer at Swift Supply is responsible for designing roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software. This role requires a strong attention to detail and a commitment to customer satisfaction, as the designer's work is critical to the efficiency of the overall production process. The successful candidate will have a background in truss design or related fields and will be expected to optimize designs for material and labor savings while adhering to company standards and local codes.

Responsibilities

• Design roof and floor truss systems using MiTek software based on customer plans.
• Ensure timely delivery of designs according to plan and quote specifications.
• Solve design and engineering problems through effective troubleshooting and communication.
• Optimize material usage according to inventory levels and costs.
• Maintain detailed records and reports for each job.
• Communicate effectively with team members, including design managers and sales personnel.
• Assist in training and development of other designers as needed.
• Meet with job site supervisors to resolve design issues and may require occasional travel to job sites.
• Maintain an organized and efficient working environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in truss design or related fields.
• Proficiency in using MiTek and/or other design software.
• General knowledge of the construction industry and engineering fundamentals.
• Strong math skills, including the ability to calculate loads and load transfer.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with CAD and drafting software.
• Knowledge of current local codes associated with truss design (TPI).
• Dependability and reliable transportation.
