About the position
The Truss Designer position involves creating detailed truss design drawings and placement plans for floor and roof trusses, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and structural requirements. The role requires collaboration with customers and sales staff to clarify technical aspects of designs, as well as a commitment to safety and efficiency in the design process.
Responsibilities
- Produces floor and roof truss placement plans, truss design drawings, and truss quotes based on blueprints and customer requirements.
- Determines design specifications based on blueprints and structural design needs.
- Reviews other designers' work to reduce design errors before manufacturing.
- Creates optimized shop paperwork for manufacturing efficiency.
- Communicates with customers and sales staff on technical aspects of plans that require clarification.
- Documents communication with customers, architects, or engineers using Excel and saved emails.
- Consults with experienced component technicians and management for in-depth analysis when needed.
- Plans and paces work efficiently to meet productivity goals.
- Observes safety procedures to prevent injury and attends safety meetings.
Requirements
- Proficiency in MiTek and/or Alpine software is required.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and architectural drawings.
- Knowledge of drafting, architectural design, or CAD applications.
- Strong attention to detail and basic math and measurement skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
