About the position

The Truss Designer will be responsible for creating complete and accurate Truss Placement Plans and Truss Design Drawings for custom commercial and residential building projects. This role involves close collaboration with other Truss Designers and communication with architects, engineers, and clients to address design issues and changes in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Create complete and accurate Truss Placement Plans and Truss Design Drawings (TDD).
• Design roof trusses, floor trusses, and pre-engineered wood products using design software, CAD, and other supporting component design software.
• Follow Building Codes to ensure safety and compliance with industry standards.
• Utilize advanced math skills for calculating lengths, weights, angles, and technical knowledge of CAD software and related programs.
• Read and interpret Architectural and Structural plans, recognizing potential problems and visualizing solutions.
• Communicate with clients during the design process, providing explanations and interpretations of designs through a review process.
• Involved in repair designing and coordination of field issues, communicating with Construction Managers/Superintendents.
• Research industry documents on products, building codes, and construction techniques for design solutions and continual learning.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of Truss Design and Draft experience in the Construction and Building Materials industries.
• Highly proficient in MiTek software.
• High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
• Industry knowledge and experience in Construction and Building Materials.
• Ability to manage and complete tasks on time.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
