About the position

Our client is a top-notch full-service accounting and advisory firm located in New York, NY, currently seeking a Trust and Estate Manager for their Trust and Estate Practice. This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive Estate Planning and Tax Compliance Services to high-net-worth clients. The Trust and Estate Manager will be responsible for delivering high-level personal income tax and estate tax compliance services, as well as offering estate planning advisory services. This position requires a deep understanding of tax laws and the ability to navigate complex estate planning scenarios. In this role, the Trust and Estate Manager will review and prepare individual, fiduciary, estate, and gift tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations. Additionally, the manager will prepare and review estate and trust fiduciary accountings, which are essential for maintaining transparency and accountability in estate management. The position also involves researching Federal and State tax laws, preparing tax memorandums on technical topics, and developing innovative tax savings strategies tailored to the unique needs of clients. A significant aspect of this role is managing all aspects of client accounts and fostering strong client relationships. The Trust and Estate Manager will be expected to conduct reviews and analyses of estate planning-related legal documents, ensuring that all strategies align with the clients' goals and legal requirements. Furthermore, business development is a key responsibility, which includes networking, public speaking, and authoring Trust and Estate-related articles to enhance the firm's visibility and credibility in the market.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high level personal income tax and estate tax compliance services as well as estate planning advisory services.
  • Review and prepare individual, fiduciary, estate and gift tax returns.
  • Prepare and review estate and trust fiduciary accountings.
  • Research Federal and State tax laws, prepare tax memorandums on technical topics, and develop tax savings strategies.
  • Manage all aspects of client accounts and foster client relationships.
  • Review and analysis of estate planning related legal documents.
  • Engage in business development including networking, public speaking and authoring Trust and Estate related articles.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA licensure is required.
  • Recent public accounting experience required.
  • Extensive experience in Tax Advisory and Estate/Trust planning and compliance.
  • 5+ years experience in working with high net-worth clients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good client relationships.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Experience in tax preparation, fiduciary accounting and research software required.
