About the position

The Trust Operations Specialist at Riverview Bank is responsible for performing daily workflow duties and balancing within the Trust department. This role involves providing systems and process leadership, assisting customers with cash management and trust accounting software, and supporting tax processing and operational administrative tasks. The specialist will handle complex calculations related to trust accounting and assist with client account management needs.

Responsibilities

  • Become a system expert on the operational platforms of the Trust Company and seek efficiencies and innovations.
  • Represent Riverview Trust Company in relationships with system vendors, internal partners, and clients.
  • Handle complex questions and requests from clients within the area of knowledge.
  • Complete various administrative duties such as composing letters and maintaining filing systems with and without supervision.
  • Prepare and file annual and quarterly reports as required.
  • Maintain value and records on Trust Assets.
  • Process income on assets; confirm trades and process settlements with limited supervision.
  • Pay recurring and one-time bills from client accounts.
  • Deposit recurring and non-recurring cash items to client accounts.
  • Responsible for daily processing and balancing, and initiating money movement, wires, ACH transfers, etc.
  • Process and/or route information for clients and accounts, such as address changes and report requests.
  • Type routine correspondence as requested by Administration and keep follow-up copies.
  • Verify Operations daily work for accuracy and refer issues to Operations Manager as necessary.
  • Set up, maintain and delete ticklers, recurring checks, and items as directed.
  • Follow-up on outstanding scheduled receipts and disbursements, transfers, loan payments, etc.
  • Process closed accounts for Operations Department.
  • Balance various external and internal accounts used by Trust Company as assigned.
  • Retrieve & compute daily money market fund rates for investment sweep purposes and send emails to appropriate employees each morning.
  • Make recommendations to manager/supervisor about possible methods to improve department and budgetary needs.
  • Act as a tax processing liaison with providers.
  • Manage securities movement between firms as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university preferred, or A.A. with three years prior experience in trust-related business, accounting, or operations, or a combination of education and related experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Proficient in MS Office software and adaptable to department-specific software.
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and prioritizing ability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in trust accounting or financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with trust management software and systems.
