About the position

The System Administrator position at Associates Systems LLC is a critical role responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of the company's infrastructure operations. This position requires a thorough understanding of both hardware and software systems, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and implement solutions effectively. The System Administrator will analyze and identify the requirements of existing or new computer and server systems, taking into account the unique technology needs of the organization. This includes designing, implementing, coding, testing, documenting, and maintaining systems integration solutions for the entire system or its subsystems. In this role, the System Administrator will establish functional and technical specifications, resolve hardware/software interface issues, define input/output parameters, and ensure the seamless integration of all components. The position demands a proactive approach to system maintenance and optimization, requiring the administrator to stay ahead of potential issues and implement necessary upgrades and patches in a timely manner. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing on-call support and may need to perform after-hours maintenance as required. The role is based in Richardson, TX, and requires a current TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph. The System Administrator will work closely with various teams to ensure that all systems are functioning optimally and that any issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and security of the company's IT infrastructure, making it a vital part of the organization's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and implement solutions to optimize infrastructure operations.
  • Analyze and identify requirements for existing or new computer and server systems.
  • Design, implement, code, test, document, and maintain systems integration solutions.
  • Establish functional and technical specifications for systems.
  • Solve hardware/software interface problems and define input/output parameters.
  • Ensure integration of the entire system or subsystem.
  • Provide on-call support and occasional after-hours maintenance as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen with a current TS-SCI clearance with CI poly.
  • 5 years of experience in Linux System Administration, including installation and maintenance of software and hardware.
  • Experience administering Red Hat Linux based systems with minimal support.
  • Experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Strong hardware/software troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with scripting in shell scripting (sh, csh), Bash, Python, and PERL.
  • Experience with planning, deployment, installation, and upgrades of products across multiple geographic sites.
  • Experience with NAS and SAN administration.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds for hardware installations.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for installation support.
  • Active CompTIA Security+ or CISSP Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud infrastructures such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience administering Windows based systems.
  • Proficiency with Enterprise level administration of services like DNS, sendmail, and LDAP.
  • Experience with VMware (ESXi and vCenter).
  • Familiarity with version control systems like git or IBM Rational Team Concert.
  • Strong analytic and research skills, detail-oriented.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows integration tools (Centrify, Samba).
  • Installation and management of fiber channel switches.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems efficiently.
  • Strong communication and diplomatic skills.
