About the position

The TS/SCI Data Engineer position at Insight Global involves supporting federal clients at Offutt Air Force Base by organizing and analyzing big data to derive critical insights. The role focuses on developing and deploying data pipelines and platforms that facilitate the transformation of diverse data sets into actionable information, contributing to significant missions such as fraud detection and national intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Implement data engineering activities to support mission-driven projects.
  • Develop and deploy scalable pipelines and platforms to organize and make sense of diverse data sets.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of analysts, data engineers, developers, and data consumers in a dynamic, agile environment.
  • Enhance skills in analytical exploration and data examination while supporting the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms for clients.

Requirements

  • Over 3 years of experience in data engineering, data wrangling, and developing highly scalable ETL or DataOps pipelines.
  • More than 3 years of experience in relational and dimensional modeling techniques, including organizing and structuring data.
  • 3+ years of expertise in applying principles, best practices, and trade-offs of schema design across various database technologies, such as relational, columnar, graph, SQL, or NoSQL.
  • At least 1 year of experience in implementing web services, including SOAP and RESTful APIs, using microservices architectures and design patterns.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, SQL, Scala, Java, or UNIX and Linux shell scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
  • Capability to develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats.
  • Ability to work in a big data environment and effectively communicate with multiple functional groups, including non-technical stakeholders.
  • TS/SCI clearance.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in Agile and DevSecOps teams and environments, including proficiency with Atlassian tools.
  • Proven ability to implement rapid response query solutions on Big Data platforms using Solr, Elasticsearch, or scalable query engine implementations.
  • Expertise in implementing batch and real-time big data integration frameworks and applications in private or public cloud environments, such as AWS or Azure, utilizing technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Impala.
  • Knowledge of Zero Trust principles and designing data architectures with role-based data access.
  • Familiarity with relational and dimensional modeling techniques.
  • Capability to independently research emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Amazon Certified Solutions Architect and Associate Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with debugging and identifying performance bottlenecks in big data frameworks.
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages or tools related to data engineering.
