About the position

The TSCM/TEMPEST Specialist is responsible for conducting TEMPEST Countermeasures Reviews and technical evaluations, ensuring compliance with DoD policies and the NGA Certified TEMPEST Technical Authority (CTTA) requirements. This role involves maintaining TEMPEST qualifications, conducting inspections and tests, and supporting daily operations related to TEMPEST security measures. The specialist will also collaborate with various stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure adherence to security regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an average of 20 TEMPEST Countermeasures Reviews annually.
  • Publish or contribute to 75 technical evaluations each year.
  • Ensure all required reports are complete with minimal errors and within established timeframes.
  • Assist the CTTA in implementing the NGA TEMPEST program and develop processes for controlling compromising emanations.
  • Ensure all TEMPEST staff are fully qualified to meet NGA mission requirements.
  • Gather necessary information for TEMPEST risk matrix and checklists from customers.
  • Conduct visual TEMPEST inspections and testing of facilities and equipment as required.
  • Maintain TEMPEST qualifications and test equipment, coordinating repairs and calibrations as needed.
  • Support daily TEMPEST operations and ensure accuracy of the NGA TEMPEST Risk Matrix.
  • Ensure completion of all TEMPEST checklists and Countermeasure Reviews within timeframes.
  • Conduct Radio Frequency signal searches and collaborate on wireless security systems.
  • Provide recommendations for new processes and systems related to TEMPEST security.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current and active DoD TS or DOE Q clearance.
  • At least 7 years of experience in a CI or Security related field, with at least 5 years of TEMPEST experience.
  • National TEMPEST School certifications in TEMPEST Fundamentals and RED/BLACK Installation Guidance courses.
  • National TEMPEST School certifications in TEMPEST testing courses (Lab, Field, NONSTOP).
  • Certified TEMPEST Professional (CTP) 1&2 or obtain within 24 months of starting.
  • Completed TEMPEST for System Installation and Facility Design and the NCSC ICD 705 Course or complete within 12 months of starting.
  • Completed TEMPEST Test Equipment Familiarization Course and either TEMPEST Lab Testing Basics or TEMPEST Field Testing Basics or complete within 24 months of starting.
  • Complete a minimum of 40 hours of proficiency training in TEMPEST or relevant security fields each fiscal year.
  • Bachelor's Degree in any discipline.

  • Credentialed graduate of an accredited federal or DoD CI training academy.
