The primary duty station for this position is the Waco TTI office, with a hybrid remote option available. The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a researcher and mobility coordinator applying traffic engineering principles to improve mobility during construction.
  • Develop and research effective solutions to transportation issues in collaboration with various agencies.
  • Contribute to proposal writing, research projects, and report writing.
  • Coordinate and collect data from diverse sources for construction-related projects.
  • Lead applied research projects as Principal Investigator or task leader.
  • Co-teach TxDOT construction project management classes and revise course materials.
  • Promote cooperative efforts between TxDOT and impacted properties to resolve construction issues.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in engineering, urban and regional planning, public administration, or another transportation-related field.
  • Three years of relevant work experience in roadway construction, plan review, utilities, safety, and/or transportation research.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in analysis and various analytical methods, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Experience leading project teams and meeting project deliverable requirements and deadlines.
  • Experience in authoring technical reports, memos, articles, or formal documents.
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating groups, such as community organizing or workshops.
  • Ph.D. in engineering, urban and regional planning, public administration, or another transportation-related field.
