About the position

The TTI Research Scientist/Program Manager will serve as the manager of the Center for Alcohol and Drug Education Studies (CADES), focusing on drug and alcohol research, education, and outreach activities. This role involves providing operational oversight for various projects, acting as a principal investigator, and leading the CADES program to achieve strategic research goals aimed at enhancing transportation safety in Texas and nationally.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall direction and administration of CADES, including day-to-day operations and project management.
  • Supervise a team of subject matter experts in drug and alcohol research, ensuring effective performance and project completion.
  • Collect and analyze data related to drug and alcohol REO projects to inform stakeholders and improve safety measures.
  • Compile and present research findings through technical reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Plan, coordinate, and report on project phases, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of drug and alcohol REO projects, identifying new funding opportunities and partnerships.
  • Mentor and develop CADES staff, conducting performance evaluations and managing professional development needs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in transportation, criminal justice, public health, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in transportation safety with a focus on drug and/or alcohol topics, including at least 4 years in project and program management.

Nice-to-haves

  • PhD or EdD in a relevant field.
  • 10 years of experience managing traffic safety research teams and programs.
  • Experience with national committees or service boards.
  • History of peer-reviewed publications and professional conference presentations.
