About the position

The Turf Grass Manager at East Carolina University is responsible for the management and maintenance of all Athletics facilities, including natural grass and synthetic playing surfaces. This role involves establishing maintenance plans, supervising staff, managing budgets, and ensuring the facilities are prepared for various athletic events. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and adherence to university policies and NCAA regulations.

Responsibilities

• Establish plans and programs for the maintenance of natural grass and synthetic playing surfaces.
• Supervise the facilities crew and manage the maintenance of all Athletics facilities.
• Formulate budgets necessary for maintenance programs and oversee their execution.
• Manage daily and annual maintenance programs, including on-site construction management.
• Coordinate with Athletics Operations for the preparation and supervision of practices, games, and events.
• Administer renovations, upgrades, or new natural grass facilities with associated budgetary procedures.
• Supervise full-time staff, including a Grounds Supervisor and temporary workers, as well as student workers.
• Submit work requests to Facility Services and follow up on completions.
• Oversee contract or sub-contract work and consultations with turf managers.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience in turf management.
• Knowledge and experience with turf management practices.
• Good communication skills and ability to motivate and direct employees.
• Familiarity with machinery necessary for turf management operations.
• Valid NC driver's license.
