About the position

The Turnaround Construction Manager for North America at LyondellBasell plays a critical role in overseeing the preparation and execution of turnaround events within the Global Engineering & Turnaround (GE&T) organization. This position is responsible for developing execution strategies, leading constructability reviews, optimizing schedules, and managing staffing for turnaround events. The role emphasizes leadership in achieving safety performance goals and effective communication across various levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to enable the organization to achieve GoalZERO HSE performance
  • Lead the development and implementation of turnaround execution strategies and best practices
  • Lead and participate in constructability reviews and schedule optimizations
  • Develop the staffing plan to support the pre-turnaround and execution phase based on planned man hour estimates and contractor requirements/input
  • Lead execution team training and onboarding efforts
  • Accountable for all maintenance field activities associated with the turnaround and related capital projects
  • Effectively communicate up, down, and across to foster support and remove obstacles

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related technical field is preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a process plant or comparable environment is required
  • 10 or more years of prior turnaround/project experience and 5 years of management experience strongly preferred
  • Construction management expertise with detailed knowledge of craft and quality assurance practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and SAP
  • Understanding of field execution for Petrochemical Turnarounds
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage people and multiple/changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional analytical skills to effectively evaluate system performance, troubleshooting and mastery of continuous process improvement tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface with and relate complex concepts/issues with all levels from craft to executive leadership
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring and teamwork skills with the ability to effectively transfer technical expertise to less experienced turnaround professionals
  • Administrative acumen and expertise

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of basic Primavera scheduling practices preferred
