About the position

The Tutor position at Bay Area Tutoring Association focuses on providing academic support to middle school students in Math and ELA. Tutors will work in a collaborative environment, guiding students through their learning journeys and fostering a positive atmosphere. This part-time role involves working with students in a tutoring lab, ensuring they receive the necessary support to achieve their academic goals.

Responsibilities

• Inspire students to actively participate in learning activities and maintain high behavioral expectations.
• Ensure a safe and productive learning environment by enforcing campus safety rules and behavior expectations.
• Guide students in collaborative learning centers through observation and group discussions.
• Provide small group tutoring sessions focused on literacy and/or math skills, utilizing tailored curricula.
• Conduct monthly progress monitoring assessments for students needing intervention and communicate results to families and teachers.
• Collaborate with grade level teams to interpret data and make informed decisions for student progress.
• Engage in staff development opportunities to contribute to student success.

Requirements

• Strong academic background in Math and/or ELA.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for teaching and helping students succeed.
• Ability to adapt teaching style to different learning styles.
• Previous experience managing and/or teaching elementary-age students is highly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree is a plus, but not required.
