About the position
The position of Tutor: Health involves providing instructional support to students with disabilities in an inclusion setting. The tutor will work under the direction of a special education teacher and/or School Nurse to implement accommodations as outlined in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/or Individual Health Care Plan. The role requires assisting students with work completion and accessing the general education curriculum. Additionally, the candidate may be required to participate in training regarding Curriculum Standards or other necessary training as mandated by the Swampscott Public Schools District.
Responsibilities
- Provide instructional support and implement accommodations per IEP and/or Individual Health Care Plan for student(s) with disabilities under the direction of a special education teacher and/or School Nurse in an inclusion setting
- Provide assistance with work completion and accessing the general education curriculum
- Participate in training regarding Curriculum Standards or other required training per the Swampscott Public Schools District.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or EMT certification preferred
- At least 2 excellent references
- Pass all required screenings, including CORI, SAFIS fingerprinting, and I-9 eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
- Physically capable of providing support which may include modeling, coaching, and verbal, visual and/or physical prompts as required by the student's IEP
- Other qualifications may vary depending on the specific needs of the assigned student.
