About the position

PJ Test Prep is seeking intelligent, educated, and engaging tutors to work with high school students in various subjects, including science, math, and test preparation. The role is part-time and offers flexible scheduling, allowing tutors to negotiate hours with students. The position requires commuting to students' homes in specific locations, and candidates should have a strong background in the subjects they wish to tutor.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person tutoring to high school students in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and various math topics.
• Assist students with SAT/ACT test preparation and general study skills.
• Proctor SAT and ACT practice tests, introducing students to the test format and timing sections.
• Communicate effectively with students and parents regarding progress and scheduling.
• Highlight any AP subjects of expertise in cover letters and applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (BA/BS minimum).
• Deep knowledge in high school science and math subjects.
• Good communication skills and comfort working with high school students.
• At least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA.
• Strong SAT or ACT scores for test prep tutors.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior tutoring experience, including volunteer work.
• Familiarity with AP testing in any subjects.
• Fluency in a language in addition to English.
