About the position
The Tutor II - Computer Game Development position at Mount Hood Community College is a part-time role focused on providing academic assistance to students enrolled in computer game development courses. The tutor will support students in understanding course content, completing lab activities, and reinforcing learning objectives through individual and group tutoring sessions. This role is essential for enhancing student learning and ensuring effective instructional support in both live and online environments.
Responsibilities
- Assist students in understanding and completing lab activities related to computer game development courses.
- Provide academic support that aligns with course content and instructional methods.
- Facilitate discussions and review class projects to reinforce curriculum and learning objectives.
- Discuss test preparation strategies and provide homework assistance to students.
- Identify and support the diverse needs of individual learners, referring them to other campus resources as necessary.
- Review course-specific instructional materials provided by students and instructors.
- Perform routine clerical support related to student tutoring programs and objectives.
- Operate various lab equipment, hardware, software, and other technologies as needed.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in computer game development or a related field, or equivalent game development industry experience of at least two years.
- Ability to tutor students individually and in small groups.
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, as well as through hands-on demonstrations.
- Knowledge of content-specific coursework and effective tutoring strategies.

- Familiarity with operating shop equipment, tools, and technologies.
