About the position

The Tutor K-5 position at HeyTutor involves working with elementary school students in Los Angeles, CA, to provide personalized tutoring in Math and English. The role is designed for passionate individuals who are eager to help young learners overcome educational challenges and build confidence in their academic abilities. Tutors will work part-time, primarily after school hours, and will have opportunities for career advancement within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead tutoring sessions independently using engaging materials.
• Prepare the tutoring area and organize lessons through the HeyTutor Dashboard.
• Track student progress and ensure each student feels valued and encouraged.
• Promote positive behavior and foster an inclusive, welcoming environment.
• Help students complete assessments to measure growth and celebrate wins.
• Interact directly with students to create a dynamic learning experience.

Requirements

• Completed college or currently enrolled in a secondary education program.
• Tutoring experience or strong rapport with children.
• Comfortable in a classroom setting and with K-5th Math and ELA.
• Clear FBI-DOJ background check (handled by HeyTutor).

Nice-to-haves
