About the position
The Tutor for Math & Science - Chemistry is a part-time position focused on providing quality tutoring support to students in a one-on-one and small group setting. The role involves following current tutoring philosophies, assisting with workshops, and collaborating with staff to enhance the academic success of students, particularly in Chemistry and related subjects.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group tutoring to students in Chemistry and related subjects.
- Follow guidelines and current tutoring philosophy, including the pursuit of CRLA certification.
- Communicate effectively with staff and the coordinator/manager.
- Conduct small workshops as needed to support student learning.
- Assist the greeter with scheduling and data collection.
Requirements
- Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Teaching or tutoring experience preferred, especially in Chemistry.
- Specialty knowledge in Organic Chemistry (CHM 203 & 204) is a must.
- Knowledge of 100 and 200 level Biology and/or Mathematics is a plus.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience coordinating efforts with other tutors and staff.
- Excellent work ethic and sensitivity to the needs of students at all levels.
