About the position
The Tutor for Math & Science - Mathematics (Part-time) position is designed to provide quality tutoring support to students at the college. The role involves one-on-one and small group tutoring, following established guidelines and tutoring philosophies, and contributing to the academic success of students in mathematics and potentially science courses.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group tutoring to students in mathematics and science subjects.
- Follow guidelines and current tutoring philosophy, including the pursuit of CRLA certification.
- Communicate effectively with staff and the coordinator/manager.
- Conduct small workshops as needed and audit classes as required.
- Assist the greeter with scheduling and data collection.
Requirements
- Minimum of an Associate's degree required; Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred.
- Teaching or tutoring experience preferred, with a specialty in Mathematics.
- Ability to tutor Probability & Statistics is a plus; assistance in science courses (Biology & Chemistry) is a plus but not required.
- Excellent work ethic and sensitivity to the needs of students at all levels.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in online tutoring.
- Ability to coordinate efforts with other tutors and staff.
