About the position

The Association of Test Preparation, Admissions, and Private Tutoring (TPAPT) is actively seeking motivated and engaging SAT or ACT tutors for part-time assignments in Montclair and Livingston, NJ. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about helping students succeed in standardized testing and are looking for a flexible tutoring opportunity. The position is classified as a contract role, with compensation ranging from $50 to $70 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. All tutoring sessions will take place in person, either at a local learning center or at neutral locations such as libraries, ensuring a conducive learning environment for students. As a tutor, you will be responsible for meeting with a cohort of students one-on-one to teach essential test prep skills. The expectation is to work a minimum of 8 hours per week, with a commitment to at least two days of tutoring. Candidates who are available to work on weekends will be given priority, as the organization is open to seeing students all day on Sundays and during the evenings on weekdays from 2 PM to 9 PM ET. Collaboration with the TPAPT team is crucial, as you will be generating and executing specific plans tailored to each student’s needs and attending client-specific case review meetings to discuss progress and strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and have a strong understanding of both the SAT and ACT, including the content and structure of these tests. Exceptional communication skills, patience, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role. Reliable transportation is also required to commute to various tutoring locations.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with a cohort of students one-on-one to teach test prep skills for SAT and ACT.

  • Attend client-specific case review meetings to discuss student progress.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 1 year of experience in SAT or ACT tutoring.
  • Intimate knowledge of both the SAT and ACT, including assessment criteria.
  • Exceptional communication skills and patience.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation.
