About the position
The Medical Interpreter position at Comprehensive Language Access Solutions, LLC (CLAS) involves providing in-person spoken language interpretation services in healthcare settings across Northern Virginia. The role is crucial for facilitating accurate communication between healthcare providers and patients who have limited English proficiency. As an independent contractor, interpreters have the flexibility to set their own schedules based on availability and assignment locations.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate language interpreting services in English and Target Language(s)
- Facilitate provider-patient communication utilizing different modes of interpretation
- Adhere to professional Code of Ethics
- Demonstrate empathetic and respectful behavior in accordance with health care Code of Conduct
- Be punctual
- Provide accurate documentation of encounters
Requirements
- Fluency in English and Target Language(s) including familiarity with medical terminology
- Completed or plan to complete a minimum of 40-hour medical interpreting training with language proficiency assessment
- U.S. work authorization required
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID and other vaccinations as per health system requirements
- Must have reliable transportation to travel to multiple locations and appointments
