About the position
The TWIC General Labor position involves performing essential functions in various challenging environments, including ships' holds, docks, terminals, and warehouses. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and operational efficiency while handling materials and equipment under potentially arduous conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual inspections of all products being received or loaded.
- Ensure accuracy of all counts and follow proper tallying procedures.
- Complete and submit all documentation accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner.
- Promote and adhere to the company's safety program, encouraging others to adopt safety as a culture.
- Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections.
- Collaborate with the Safety Department to investigate damages, incidents, or near misses and ensure proper procedures are followed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required.
- Experience in material handling on or around a dock and terminal.
- Ability to use basic hand tools.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Above average hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work in extreme stressful conditions and high traffic areas.
