About the position

The University of California, Riverside is seeking two tenure-track Assistant Professors in Ecology to join the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology. These positions aim to address key ecological issues and integrate ecological science with social dimensions, particularly focusing on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The successful candidates will develop funded research programs, teach various biology courses, and contribute to departmental service, starting on July 1, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a creative, extramurally funded research program in Ecology.
  • Support the Biology curriculum through teaching and mentoring.
  • Participate in existing courses in introductory biology, upper-division, and graduate courses.
  • Contribute to the development of a 'Biology in Society' core curriculum.
  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Engage in departmental and campus service activities.

Requirements

  • Research experience in Ecology, Evolution, Organismal Biology, or a related area.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research.
  • A Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • At least one year of postdoctoral experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Expertise in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) actions and initiatives.
  • Experience in developing inclusive pedagogy.
  • Ability to integrate traditional/indigenous ecological knowledge into research.
