About the position

The Two-Year-Old Teacher position at YWCA Utah involves supporting the planning and implementation of a nationally accredited preschool program for two-year-olds. The role focuses on ensuring the health, safety, and enrichment of children while providing developmentally appropriate care and guidance. The teacher will work collaboratively with a team to create a nurturing and educational environment that reflects the cultural diversity of the children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and supervising educational activities for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate care, comfort, nurturing, and guidance to enhance children's emotional and physical growth.
  • Supervise and implement appropriate feeding schedules and individual maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the facility according to health and hygiene standards.
  • Work with the teaching team to create and maintain a cheerful and aesthetically pleasing childcare environment.
  • Share responsibilities for accurate record keeping, data collection, and anecdotal child reports.
  • Monitor the emotional and physical health of children and report suspected child abuse.
  • Maintain compliance with Child Care Licensing, Federal Food Program, NAEYC Accreditation, and YWCA standards.
  • Obtain and maintain awareness of appropriate developmental guidelines and behavior management techniques.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of combined education and experience in early childhood education.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) certification preferred or must obtain within a year of hire.
  • Experience working with children is required.
  • Understanding and agreement with YWCA Utah's mission and values regarding anti-oppression and social justice.
  • Proficiency with general office duties and computer systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Skilled in effective communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
