About the position

The Asbestos Technician at Universal Engineering Sciences is responsible for conducting Building Science assessments related to asbestos, indoor air quality, mold, radon, and lead across various facility types. This role involves project management, data compilation, report authoring, and ensuring compliance with safety standards while maintaining quality throughout all projects.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to projects within the DFW Metroplex and surrounding areas
  • Complete and finalize specific project tasks according to deadlines and within budget
  • Conduct project research (historical, analytical, etc.)
  • Communicate with clients and subject site representatives
  • Compile and organize data
  • Author reports and prepare quality supporting documents (site figures, appendices, etc.)
  • Provide on-site project management to complete field testing
  • Create, prepare, and update project proposals and technical reports
  • Schedule project testing and other necessary field work
  • Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including asbestos inspections and air monitoring, lead, radon, and mold testing and remediation
  • Complete accurate and detailed field-testing reports and/or diagrams
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Post secondary education is considered an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio (CAD equivalent)
  • TDSHS Licensed Asbestos Building Inspector (required)
  • TDSHS Licensed Asbestos Air-Monitoring Technician with NIOSH 582 Equivalency License (strongly preferred)
  • TDSHS Licensed Asbestos Project Manager, Management Planner, and/or Project Designer (preferred)
  • TDLR - Mold Assessment Technician or Consultant License (preferred)
  • TELRR Lead-Based Paint Inspector (preferred)
  • NRPP Radon Measurement Professional Certification (preferred)
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER (preferred)

Nice-to-haves

  • TDSHS Licensed Asbestos Air-Monitoring Technician with NIOSH 582 Equivalency License
