About the position

The TxDMV - VTR Operations Specialist III position is a hybrid role based in Austin, Texas, focused on providing customer service for special plates registration activities within the Vehicle Titles and Registration Division. The role involves verifying title and registration information, ensuring compliance with regulations, and handling sensitive communications. The specialist will work independently on assignments while referring unusual issues to a supervisor, and will interact extensively with the public and governmental agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine information and assistance pertaining to vehicle title and registration procedures, laws, rules and regulations.
• Processes special applications and reports related to vehicle registration.
• Prepares and edits correspondence, memos, and reports for proper format and accuracy.
• Retrieves title and registration information from databases and verifies against applications and documents.
• Researches and analyzes manuals, regulations, and laws to ensure compliance and resolve problems.
• Provides information and support for TxDMV Headquarters and regional service centers.
• Processes special plate applications requiring additional research.
• Makes complex decisions based on inquiries and software applications.
• Handles confidential correspondence regarding compliance with DPPA.
• Answers multi-line telephones and responds to inquiries.
• Maintains productive working relationships with coworkers and customers.
• Performs additional branch-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school or equivalent plus two years of experience in customer service, data entry/management, or general office administration.
• A valid Class 'C' driver's license is required.
