About the position

The Entry-Level Cable Technician will play a crucial role in setting up a new data center by installing and maintaining essential cabling infrastructure. This position involves working with various tools and equipment to ensure the proper installation of telecommunications systems, contributing to the overall functionality of the data center.

Responsibilities

• Layout and install wireway, buss duct, cable trays, switches, receptacles, and other devices.
• Build and organize telecommunications closets, including mounting and installing backboards, cross-connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optics, and related hardware.
• Install grounding systems for racks, equipment, and cables as required.
• Perform IDC connections, including terminating 110/66 blocks and patch panels.
• Pull wire and oversee conduit installations and wire pulling operations.
• Operate a variety of tools and equipment requiring manual dexterity, such as cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, and more.

Requirements

• Cat5/Cat6 installation and maintenance
• Copper and fiber optic cabling
• Rack and stack, structured cabling, and blueprint interpretation
• OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Scissor lift operation and conduit installations
• Familiarity with cable trays, cable pulling, and fiber optic terminations
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Valid driver's license
• Strong understanding of blueprint interpretation and project documents, including specifications and quality requirements
• Familiarity with universal communications color codes
