About the position

The TXWES Esports Video Editor at Texas Wesleyan University is responsible for enhancing the department's engagement through digital media. This role involves crafting and editing various video content, collaborating with teams, and ensuring high-quality production that aligns with departmental objectives. The position requires occasional night and weekend work, along with potential on-camera responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Craft and edit video content for TXWES Esports & Gaming, including promotional videos, event highlights, player profiles, tutorials, and streaming archives.
  • Collaborate with various teams to conceptualize and execute video projects that align with departmental objectives.
  • Edit and enhance raw footage, ensuring high-quality visuals, sound, and effects to create engaging and polished videos.
  • Manage post-production tasks, such as color correction, audio mixing, and graphics integration.
  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all video content.
  • Work closely with the Director of Esports & Gaming to adapt video content for diverse platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, social media, and more.
  • Adhere to deadlines and prioritize tasks while maintaining the creative vision of each project.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging video editing techniques.

Requirements

  • Technical proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Exceptional creativity and storytelling skills, with an eye for detail and aesthetics.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong familiarity with esports, gaming, digital media, and/or current entertainment trends.
  • Familiarity with different video formats, resolutions, and codecs.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design principles and animation.
  • Experience with color correction, audio editing, and visual effects.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to collaborate while maintaining autonomy.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, including graphic design and video editing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive) and/or Google Workspace.
  • Leadership, adaptability, and cooperative attitude in a diverse environment.
  • Adherence to University and departmental policies, including FERPA compliance.
  • Discretion in managing confidential matters.
