Responsibilities
- Plan and perform machining, fabricating, and assembly operations for first models of complex mechanical units.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, and grinders with expert skill.
- Create necessary holding or locating fixtures or tools for model production.
- Perform final mechanical assembly, fitting, aligning, and adjustment of models to ensure proper operation.
- Install models in vehicles and make necessary modifications based on drawings and verbal information.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent with machine shop training and completion of a geometry course.
- Two years of experience as a lower classified Model Maker - Machinist/Fabricator B or seven years of related machine shop operations.
