About the position

The UAS Payload Systems Engineer at Torch Technologies is responsible for providing technical expertise in the evaluation and integration of various payload subsystems into uncrewed aircraft systems. This role involves coordinating with external offices, resolving payload issues, and supporting the specification and qualification of integrated payload subsystems. The engineer will communicate effectively with various stakeholders and prepare reports and briefings for senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert in Electro-Optical/Infra-Red (EO/IR) Systems.
  • Provide technical and programmatic support across multiple teams within UAS.
  • Perform System Test & Qualification Engineering activities on UAS programs, focusing on testing and integrating new payloads and weapons systems.
  • Assist in preparing contract requirement packages, statements of work, acquisition strategies, and other programmatic documentation.
  • Prepare consolidated inputs and product office briefings for senior leadership.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions and methodologies to improve efficiency and advance best practices.
  • Create integrated master schedules, strategic roadmaps, and technical documentation for contract requirements packages.
  • Interface with internal and external personnel regarding UAS products.
  • Assist in coordinating stakeholders' working groups for emerging UAS requirements.
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of Unfunded Requirements and their prioritization.
  • Assist the customer with requirements analysis and compliance with engineering directives.
  • Perform critical path and risk analyses on the integrated master schedule.
  • Provide aviation, operational, and technical expertise to conferences and meetings.
  • Manage dynamic calendars for numerous events and meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant functional area.
  • Product Level Management Experience under an ACAT I or II program preferred.
  • Experience in the development, testing, fielding/training, and sustainment phases of system's life cycle.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations and business practices.
  • Experience administering various contract types (Cost Plus Fixed Fee, Cost Plus Incentive Fee, Firm Fixed Price).
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing and facilitating working groups.
  • Ability to prepare detailed written reports and briefings suitable for senior leadership presentation.
  • Strong understanding of Army Acquisition processes and Milestone Documentation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting a major defense acquisition weapon system platform program is preferred.
