About the position

The UC Engineer will primarily provide second-level support for Avaya and Cisco phone systems, including Contact Center Express issues. This role involves daily management of move, add, and change requests, as well as the implementation and maintenance of cloud infrastructure using Software-Defined Networking (SDN). The engineer will participate in performance monitoring, network system design, and project management, ensuring compliance with security standards and effective communication with clients and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide second-level support for Avaya and Cisco phone systems and Contact Center Express issues.
  • Manage daily move, add, and change requests.
  • Implement, integrate, maintain, and secure cloud infrastructure using SDN.
  • Monitor and tune network system performance.
  • Participate in engineering, design, and project management of network systems projects.
  • Develop and maintain diagrams documenting company networks.
  • Evaluate and select technology ensuring compatibility with client requirements.
  • Document analysis and recommendations for technology selection.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, peers, and supervision, blending technical and business details.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, peers, vendors, and management.
  • Cooperate with IT Security to ensure compliance with Enterprise Security standards.
  • Support NERC-CIP compliance and ensure adherence to security policies.
  • Participate in backup and restore practices and disaster recovery planning.
  • Establish processes and procedures to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Manage and improve costs of budgeted Capital and Operational and Maintenance activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in technical network support or equivalent education and experience.
  • Ability to adapt to rapid technological and business changes while maintaining enthusiasm and sound judgment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Participation in continuing education courses and/or technical seminars.
  • Experience with programming and/or scripting is a plus.
  • Automation scripting skills using tools like Ansible, Python, and Powershell are a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Avaya and Cisco Communications systems, including Call Manager and Unity Connection Voicemail.
