As part of the Firm's Technology Services Operations Team, the Database Administrator will perform operational support activities that are critical to maintaining the integrity and performance of the database infrastructure. This role involves providing production support for a variety of database systems including Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise, Sybase IQ, UDB DB2, Sybase Replication, UDB DB2 SQL Rep and Q Replication, Paraccel, Postgres, Hadoop, MSSQL, Mongo DB, and Oracle databases on a global scale. The Database Administrator will also be responsible for supporting specific hardware configurations such as Sun v240/440/4800/420r, Consumer Electronics company r610/710, and Client 385/585/480 Blades. The position requires the administration and maintenance of an existing local and global database infrastructure, which includes the implementation, operational support, and periodic upgrades of all database servers. Effective communication and coordination with application support and other IT support teams are essential to provide timely responses for critical requests. Daily monitoring of the database infrastructure for health checks, application alerts, and replication alerts is a key responsibility. The Database Administrator will also manage provisioning activities, user requests, and resolution alerts. In addition to these responsibilities, the role includes managing small project initiatives within the database team, which may involve datacenter migrations and the end-of-life processes for database software and hardware. The Database Administrator will also organize training sessions for the database team both locally and globally. Basic file system administration tasks, including expansion and device carving using native Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5/6 multipath utilities, will also be part of the job.
