About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at UFC is responsible for the planning, design, implementation, and management of the North America Network Infrastructure. This role involves ensuring high levels of network availability, performance, and security while providing 24x7 support for network services. The engineer will also mentor junior staff, liaise with external resources, and contribute to strategic planning and budget development for network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, procurement, designing, developing, configuring, and commissioning networks and associated systems for network monitoring and incident management.
  • Network documentation and policy design/compliance.
  • Analyzing, evaluating and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing network problems to improve performance.
  • Monitoring overall system performance and recommending upgrades or enhancements.
  • Liaising with network carriers and external resources; monitoring performance delivery.
  • Design and implementation of processes for high network availability and risk management.
  • Providing 24x7 support of Network Services.
  • Researching and developing new products and services relevant to network responsibilities.
  • Assisting Sr Director, North America Infrastructure with strategic planning and budget development for network operations.
  • Creating and managing network documentation and policies.
  • Serving as an escalation point and mentor for Helpdesk and Infrastructure teams.
  • Producing clear and concise documentation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years working in integration and/or migration of large-scale, mission-critical network implementations in a 24x7 or global environment.
  • Leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience desired.
  • In-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN communications and network hardware, specifically Cisco routers, switches, bridges, gateways, and firewalls.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, and OSPF.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Cisco CCNP or above.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and application of networks within a media agency and content delivery networks are desired.
  • Experience in network design and implementation for change, incident, and problem management processes (preferably ITIL based).
  • ISP experience.
