About the position

The UI Engineer will be a key player in the eCommerce team, responsible for leading front-end development and performance engineering. This role involves collaborating with business partners and development teams to create a highly usable and performant user experience for B2B web customers. The position is 100% remote and is a long-term contract opportunity with an immediate start date.

Responsibilities

• Lead front-end development and performance engineering for the eCommerce team.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to perform application functionality gap analysis and feasibility studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain tools and applications.
• Ensure applications and systems possess sufficient controls.
• Perform unit testing prior to moving code/configuration to the QA process.
• Assist in the development and definition of test plans and scripts for performance, regression, and user acceptance testing.
• Build and maintain templates, rules, style sheets, workflows, data extractions and imports, interfaces, and object models.
• Analyze applications for compliance with security protocols.
• Train team members on areas of expertise and participate in peer reviews.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of experience in front-end web development or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, jQuery, and Dojo.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and media queries.
• Experience with JSPs and modifying them via Eclipse IDE.
• Familiarity with Websphere Commerce and Adobe Photoshop.
• Ability to analyze front-end performance issues and provide solutions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in eCommerce (B2B or B2C).
• Experience with eCommerce platforms like Websphere Commerce or ATG.
• Experience with content management systems.
• Some formal usability/UX training or experience.
