As a UX/UI Design Spring 2025 Intern at Southwest Airlines, you will be part of the cross-departmental Service Modernization effort, specifically within the Day of Travel team. This team is dedicated to enhancing the customer experience by designing and delivering innovative digital self-service tools that span across various platforms, including native apps, desktop, mobile web, and kiosks. Your role will involve creating impactful and delightful user experiences for both external and internal digital interfaces, ensuring that the solutions you design are user-friendly and intuitive. Throughout the 12-week internship, which runs from January 28th to April 17th, 2025, you will have the opportunity to work remotely while connecting with your team and other departments virtually. You will be expected to dedicate a minimum of 24 hours each week to your internship responsibilities, with the potential to work up to 40 hours. This internship not only offers a competitive hourly wage of $23 but also includes a one-time stipend of $1,000, paid in two installments. Additionally, you will receive free, unlimited travel privileges for yourself, although taxes and fees may apply for international travel. Your responsibilities will include generating ideas and refining concepts in collaboration with stakeholders, employing resources efficiently, and initiating actions aligned with the Digital Experience strategy. You will also be tasked with constructing hypotheses, seeking solutions, and determining the best practices for information structure, wireframes, prototypes, and user interactions. Communication will be key, as you will need to present your ideas confidently and collaborate effectively with your team. Furthermore, you will engage in usability studies and partner with the User Research Team to facilitate tests with customers, ensuring that your designs meet user needs and expectations. This internship is designed for full-time students who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program and have at least one semester remaining upon completion of the internship. You will be expected to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and possess a valid U.S. Social Security Number. Specialized knowledge in digital experience design, user experience design, and familiarity with various design tools will be beneficial for your success in this role.
