About the position

PeopleTec is seeking a UI/UX Designer to support the Chief Digital and AI Office in the DC area. The role involves developing tools for semantic search and categorization of unstructured data, participating in AI/ML Task Forces, and extending APIs for broader departmental use. The designer will also contribute to the development of methodologies for testing search performance and creating a data operations playbook for unstructured data management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a generalized tool to semantically search, summarize, and categorize unstructured data
  • Participate in DoD and government AI/ML Task Forces and share best practices
  • Extend a generalized API deployed to NIPR for semantic search and categorization
  • Support the installation of capabilities on various networks including SIPRnet and JWICS
  • Develop methodology to test search performance with varying levels of prompt engineering
  • Contribute to a data operations playbook for unstructured data
  • Develop a cost model for semantic search API use cases
  • Document a strategy for ingesting and storing unstructured data on the Advana platform
  • Address issues related to maintaining semantic indices for document change management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 7-10 years experience, or a Master's Degree plus 5 years of experience
  • Subject matter expertise in agile development methodologies
  • Ability to translate user research into actionable UI requirements
  • Experience in producing high-quality solutions through wireframes and prototypes
  • Ability to rapidly iterate on design prototypes and applications
  • Experience in testing and validating usability metrics
  • Knowledge of user-based design principles and complex computer systems
  • Experience in identifying user needs and improving processes using AI

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with usability testing and preparing test plans
  • Experience with creating and documenting information design concepts
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience conducting user interviews and contextual inquiries
  • Experience with user tracking and metrics tooling such as Matomo
  • Experience with visualization of user metrics using Qlik and/or Tableau
  • Usability/UX related certification (e.g. CUA)
