About the position

AmmoSquared is a rapidly growing, innovative company revolutionizing the ammunition industry. Our platform allows customers to stockpile ammunition over time, providing a secure, budget-friendly way to have ammo there when needed. As we continue to expand, we're looking for a talented and versatile UI/UX Designer to join our team and help shape the future of our customer experience and brand. The UI/UX Designer at AmmoSquared will play a pivotal role in both our digital and physical brand presence. This role will start with a primary focus on UI/UX design for our web app, with graphic design responsibilities for marketing and branding projects as a secondary focus. As a senior member of the team, the UI/UX Designer will be doing hands-on design work but will also be instrumental in building and leading a team of creatives as the company grows. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about design, has a strong understanding of the firearms industry, and is eager to make a significant impact in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of user interfaces for the AmmoSquared web app, ensuring an intuitive and seamless user experience across all platforms, including both mobile and desktop.
  • Conduct user research, analyze data, and apply insights to continually improve the user experience.
  • Work closely with the product and development teams during implementation to ensure that design concepts are translated into fully functional and visually compelling features.
  • Take charge of marketing design projects as needed, including overhauling the AmmoSquared website, designing promotional materials, creating email templates, and generally maintaining brand consistency across all channels.
  • Develop and maintain AmmoSquared's visual identity guidelines, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints, including the website, social media, packaging, printed materials, and promotional items.
  • Oversee complex design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
  • Initially focus on direct design work, while also laying the groundwork to build and lead a team of designers and creatives as the company grows.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in both UI/UX and graphic design, with a strong portfolio showcasing work across digital products for both mobile and desktop platforms, as well as marketing materials.
  • Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture, ensuring that designs are not only visually appealing but also highly functional and user-centric.
  • Proven experience in conducting user research, analyzing data, and applying insights to improve user experience.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), and Balsamiq.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus, enabling effective collaboration with developers and a good sense of the technical feasibility of designs.
  • Natural ability to understand problems and ideate on potential solutions.
  • Strong ability to articulate design concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee complex design projects from concept to completion, and the ability to mentor and guide a growing team of designers.
  • First-hand experience owning and using a firearm, and purchasing ammunition.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the firearms industry or a strong understanding of firearms and ammunition.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies.

Benefits

  • Flexible hybrid work style (in-office + remote)
  • Opportunity for growth and leadership within the company
  • Impactful role in a fast-growing company
