About the position

Core4ce is seeking a UI/UX Designer to support the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) in enhancing the Department of Defense's (DoD) use of data, analytics, and AI. The role focuses on creating user-centered designs that facilitate decision-making processes from the boardroom to the battlefield, contributing to the development of AI solutions within the DoD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise to support agile development using iterative methodologies.
  • Translate user research into actionable user interface requirements and workflows.
  • Produce high-quality solutions through wireframes, visual designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.
  • Rapidly iterate on design prototypes and applications for AI/ML tools.
  • Develop mock-up solutions for quick implementation.
  • Test and validate usability by monitoring metrics and leveraging research for product updates.
  • Quantify user activity and visualize application usage data for analysis.
  • Apply user-based design principles to support AI solution development.
  • Support end-user technical activities by identifying mission goals and user workflows.
  • Collaborate with end-users to analyze user stories and identify requirements for capability design.
  • Identify processes and issues that can be improved using AI.
  • Gather and incorporate end-user feedback to define the broader user experience.
  • Design and prototype specific AI or ML solutions based on user needs and behaviors.
  • Work closely with Mission and Capability Delivery teams to determine product goals.
  • Collaborate on user research, customer testing, and feedback loops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 7-10 years of experience, or a Master's degree plus 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with usability testing, including test plans, facilitating sessions, and analyzing data.
  • Experience in creating and documenting information design concepts through wireframes and prototypes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in making presentations to end-users.
  • Prior experience conducting user interviews and contextual inquiries.
  • Experience with user tracking and metrics tools such as Matomo.
  • Experience visualizing user metrics using Qlik and/or Tableau.

  • Any usability/UX related certification (e.g., CUA)
