About the position

Carbon Robotics is seeking a skilled UX/UI Designer to create intuitive, functional, and visually compelling user experiences for their innovative LaserWeeder product. This role requires a balance of UX and UI expertise to develop cohesive, user-centered designs that cater to the unique needs of agricultural professionals. The designer will lead the design of both UX and UI components, ensuring that the products are reliable, safe, and easy to use, even in rugged field conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of both UX and UI components, delivering seamless and visually appealing interfaces across Carbon Robotics' products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand user requirements, translating these insights into wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Conduct user research, field studies, and usability testing with farmers and field operators to identify needs and pain points, integrating findings into design improvements.
  • Develop end-to-end workflows and interactions that cater to both desktop and mobile applications, focusing on intuitive navigation, accessibility, and ease of use.
  • Design clean and responsive UI elements that are adaptable to rugged field conditions and suitable for a range of screen sizes and environments.
  • Partner with engineers to ensure designs are implemented accurately, providing clear specifications and supporting development as needed.
  • Stay current with UX/UI trends, best practices, and innovations, particularly in sectors relevant to agriculture, robotics, and AI.

Requirements

  • Proven or extensive experience in both UX and UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design solutions, including user-centered workflows and compelling visuals.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
  • Proven ability to conduct user research, analyze findings, and translate them into actionable design changes.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and collaborate effectively within a remote team.
  • A passion for technology's role in advancing sustainable agriculture.
  • Bachelor's degree in UX/UI Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or a related field is desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing for rugged, field-use applications or hardware interfaces is a plus.
  • Flexibility to travel as required, with the ability to adapt to various locations and on-site needs.
