About the position

SAIC is dedicated to designing, deploying, operating, and maintaining secure Cloud products and services within a Cloud-based environment to enable development teams to deliver features efficiently. We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary UI/UX Software Engineer who is self-motivated, a fast learner, and thrives in a collaborative team environment. As a UI/UX Software Engineer Senior at SAIC, you will be responsible for designing and developing user interfaces that provide a seamless and engaging user experience. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements, create wireframes and prototypes, and implement visual and interaction designs. Your role will involve ensuring that all touchpoints of the digital product are visually appealing and support the user journeys and end goals. You will leverage your expertise in visual design, interaction design, information architecture, and usability testing to deliver high-quality, user-centric solutions.

Responsibilities

• Create visually appealing designs that enhance the overall user experience, including typography, color theory, layout, and iconography.
• Define how users interact with the interface, focusing on intuitive navigation, clear calls-to-action, and interactive elements.
• Create low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes to visualize design concepts and gather feedback from stakeholders.
• Organize and structure information within the application to optimize usability and findability.
• Ensure designs conform to accessibility standards, including color contrast, font size, keyboard navigation, and screen reader compatibility.
• Establish and maintain design systems and pattern libraries to promote consistency and scalability in design decisions.
• Apply user-centered design principles to empathize with users, define their needs, ideate solutions, and test them iteratively.
• Employ various usability testing techniques to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of design solutions.
• Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions and prioritize features.

Requirements

• Bachelors and 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design or related field, or Masters and 3+ years of experience in UI/UX design or related field, or Equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue).
• Experience with prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices.
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
