About the position

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia is seeking a talented individual to ensure the visual and graphic representation of the Bank's brand while creating compelling static and interactive data visualizations for users. This role involves supporting various business lines by designing user-friendly and effective creative technology solutions that meet specific business needs. The successful candidate will produce artifacts that are essential for developers of user interfaces across multiple platforms. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with data and analytics specialists, product owners, content providers, web developers, writers, editors, designers, project managers, IT staff, and other members of the Federal Reserve System. You will report directly to the Manager of Creative Solutions. In this role, you will execute design tasks from the initial requirements gathering phase through to concept development and handoff to developers. Your responsibilities will include creating user flows, wireframes, visual designs, site maps, storyboards, and both low- and high-fidelity prototypes, while also contributing to style guides and component libraries. You will conduct stakeholder presentations and design/prototype reviews, ensuring that all artifacts, such as wireframes, are compatible across various browsers and devices. Your designs will adhere to current web accessibility guidelines, and you will actively participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, including product ideation, user persona definition, user interviews, requirements gathering, cross-discipline UX design sessions, usability testing, and data analytics. Additionally, you will help maintain a cohesive Style Guide for digital media across the Bank's internal and external digital properties. You will oversee design for web enhancements, supporting images, and other visual content, ensuring a user-centric design perspective. Incorporating UI and UX best practices into your design and production processes will be essential, including conducting usability testing and other user research programs to inform user-centric design. You will lead design and wireframe reviews and prototyping processes, proposing design solutions to enhance user engagement and conversion rates. Furthermore, you will assess new digital communications technologies and their impact on visual content strategy and delivery, offering recommendations and collaborating with internal and external experts to provide effective traditional and digital creative services across the Bank. Your role will also involve conceptualizing and articulating strong, user-centered, and delightful interactions while balancing business needs with technological capabilities. You will exhibit product ownership, present your work and rationale to stakeholders, and be accountable for timelines and project needs. Additionally, you may assist with analysis initiatives, which could include executing surveys, compiling and analyzing research results, and drafting implementation plans. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
  • Experience using wire-framing techniques to show navigation, user flow, and interaction details
  • Experience with user research and stakeholder requirements gathering
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in graphic design, including data presentation and visualization
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience designing enterprise sites and applications, responsive interfaces, email campaigns, and other user experiences
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience implementing designs and creating test-ready prototypes in an agile development environment
  • An online portfolio demonstrating strong visual design experience and expertise in user-centric, interactive design for web and mobile platforms
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD)
  • Experience with prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Axure, Balsamiq, InVision)
  • Detailed knowledge of fundamental design principles affecting typography, color use, composition, and presentation of information
  • Solid knowledge of interactive and static data visualization
  • Intimate familiarity with web accessibility guidelines
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript design patterns and libraries
  • Professional interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication
  • Ability to prioritize, estimate work, and manage multiple milestones and projects efficiently.
