About the position

The UI/UX Designer role at CACI involves working within an Agile Scrum team to design and develop user interfaces for modern applications in a cloud-native environment. The position focuses on creating user-centered designs that enhance the user experience for software applications supporting Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The designer will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, releasable software in short sprint cycles, while also mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an Agile Scrum team member providing UI/UX design and development for the delivery of releasable software in short sprint cycles.
  • Conceptualize and design custom software application capabilities for a variety of legacy and modernized systems with limited oversight.
  • Lead the design of a cohesive look-and-feel and standardized user experience across the applications.
  • Collaborate with the creative strategy, UX, visual design, development team, and client to create effective design strategies.
  • Develop compelling, creative, and user-focused experiences that align with clients' business objectives.
  • Create and execute experience style guides, interaction patterns, and information design standards.
  • Develop wireframes, mockups, and/or prototypes to support design ideas and effectively communicate them to stakeholders.
  • Establish standard layout and style libraries across applications.
  • Work closely with the functional team to determine feasibility of requirements and collaborate on design ideas and improvements.
  • Ensure product quality and timeliness of work, providing advice and guidance, resolving problems to meet objectives, and providing periodic performance reports.
  • Provide mentoring to junior members of the team.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation.
  • Degree in a related field, such as Interactive Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Graphic Design or Human Factors.
  • 5+ years' experience as a visual designer, interaction designer, experience designer or a similar role.
  • Professional experience with enterprise UI design tools such as Figma (preferred), Axure, or similar tools.
  • Ability to understand trade-offs between designs, technical feasibility, and maintenance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Design Thinking certifications such as those offered through IDEO, Stanford, Cornell, MIT or other organizations.
  • Proven experience designing for web accessibility (Section 508 standards).
  • Experience with information architecture.
  • Ability and interest in educating others on user-centered design best practices.
  • Advanced understanding of Lean processes, and Agile principles.
